Do you like the work your wife comes from or not really? A particular case of bad writing, maybe details not working together or composition of story being bad?
As much as I love my wife I can't say I enjoy rereading KnS that much. It's not even a good criminal story and many events are built on pure bullshit, especially tragic ones. Only characters and atmosphere somehow carry it.
