The evas should remain humanoid and them going into some kind of "beast" mode should be more like a primeape like how Unit 1 did it in NGE. It should be primal but still humanoid, more disturbing and unique that way. I think the version in 2.0 is better than the one in 3.0 although its still a bit too alien, its anatomy breaks down and isn't recognizably human anymore, already more like an animal but at least not literally a cat yet. The cat was cute and I guess parallels her neko hat in 3.0 but it still feels just as goofy and absurd as that horse racing commercial with the horse Unit 1 except they actually put it in the movie. Seriously once a cat Unit 2 shows up a horse Unit 1 is no longer be beyond the pale, despite being a total joke from a commercial.
