>>4266242>iirc there's a couple times the US government is mentioned to make decisions outside of the UN and even threatens to pull out of NERV onceMan that makes me ask even more questions lol. Say what you will abt the Rebuilds love 'em or hate 'em but one thing they did so subtly that I loved them for was how they fleshed the world out beyond Japan. You have the beginning of 2.0 with Mari in Russia in the junker Eva 05, then you have the mentions of the "Vatican Treaty" later on as to how many Evas one country can have at a given time, and then in 3.0 (-46hrs) we get a harrowing shot of instrumentality / coreization ravaging the earth from the perspective of the ISS. And in the opening act of Thrice during Mari's fight in Paris when they finally manage to de-coreize the place they reveal components marked "JA" presumably for "Jet Alone" meaning it was also being developed in the Rebuild continuity as well but unlike the TV show never saw serious consideration over the Evas for whatever reason. And it's implied those are the components you see the mangled Unit 02 & 08 sporting in their final mission to assault to stop additional impact.
Also the Vatican Treaty thing sounds so cool and makes me want an exploration into that. Is the Pope seen as some sort of high figure or ambassador in the UN enough to dictate policy regarding Eva & Angels? What is Christianity like in that universe since we know it still exists given in the TV show Asuka's mum has her service in a German church. Just so many questions to be had.
>One thing that's interested me is that each iteration of Kaworu we've seen has a slightly different physical appearance.Really? I never noticed that. I know art changed from Sadamoto to Nishigori during the rebuilds after the formers sperg out on twitter regarding denial of Japanese war crimes against Koreans which led him to resign from Khara & drop out of the rebuilds completely. But I always thought they looked pretty consistent overall.
