Whether or not you want to accept it, Rei Q is a part of the Rebuild canon and she effectively replaces Rei. In NGE there was no such thing.
You're also being awfully dumb if you think people won't use Rei Q as ammunition against Rei, as every Asuka fan and Rei-hater out there is conflating the two and saying they're no different. Not only that, we even have our own anti-Rei troll ITT, "QuarterSoul" who has spent its entire posting career claiming that Rei Q is Rei.
