There is the possibility of either communicating intent wrong or misunderstanding, but there's nothing in any work that wasn't put into it by someone. If the truth turns out less fancy than your idea... well, then the idea was all in your head. Aknowledge that it's *yours*, not anything contained in or related to the actual work. And possibly make cash by injecting it in a work of your own if it is indeed so much better.
The only time when ppl invoke it is when something didn't do what they wanted it to do, never was what they themselves chose to project onto it.
Accept reality instead of invalidating the power that art has as a medium to communicate feelings and ideas!
but I guess even that form of communication is subject to existential loneliness/the barrier of being separate beings...
You can't transmit your feelings and conclusions, just try your best (as a fallible human) to evoke similar ones in your target.
and then, some pretentious assholes say "fuck you" to that because they wanna use the best replica of your heart you could come up with as fap material.
