They were a series of four(?) books published during the late 90s - early 2000s.
One dedicated to Shinji, Rei, Asuka, and Kaworu.
Each individual book showcases a bunch of art of their respective character and selections of poetry by their respective seiyuu, this one in question belonging to Hayashibara from Rei's book.
>Could I get your opinion on it?It seems to be a poem derived from Rei's mindset during the time before the attack on Ramiel, where Rei says she will protect Shinji as she stands before the light of the moon.
Based on numerous interviews and supplemental materials I think Hayashibara has shown time and time again she really has a good grasp on Rei's character.
As for me personally, after all this time there are still many parts of Rei that are still very much an enigma to me.
Although she is not my personal favorite Evangelion character, I think she is without a doubt the most interesting to discuss and think about; I very much love her a lot.
Likewise, I think this poem is rather in character for her; the Japanese is very simple and clear-cut. Blunt but gentle, very Rei-like.
