I dunno, sounds too immature. Ryuuko is a big girl! I think her issue is being loved in general. Sure, she will act tough at first, but try open your feelings enough and watch her melting in your arms with a blushing and a little bit of smile.

I'm wondering if other people feel this way about Ryuuko. I felt like her arc was backward, and by the end Satsuki was the more interesting and compelling character.

Like she comes in as this cool lemon-eating badass who seems like she's gotten by on her own merits, self-driven, self-motivated, continually improving because of her willpower and inner strength. But as the series goes on she seems more and more dependent on waifu fibers, first with Senketsu and then when we/ she finds out she's [spoilers]. Whereas Satsuki at first seems like a coddled rich kid who is handed everything she could want including power, but by the end I realized she is what Ryuuko seemed like at the start - self-made in terms of strength and determination. She was incredibly strong even without Junketsu, whereas Ryuuko may not have succeeded at all, even against normal human opponents, without her natural advantages and Senketsu.

Maybe all Trigger shows have this problem. TTGL involves finding a mecha that gives them their main advantage. I understand it's powered by determination, but they still stumbled across an existing machine to convert it that way. I've only seen the first season of LWA, but Akko seems the same way. She never really succeeds at being a witch, and she kind of lucks into unlocking the magic words or whatever, especially thanks to stumbling on the Shiny Rod and getting to keep it. And I know she is wonderful in other ways and fixes things in her own special way, but there's still that theme/ message of failure - that some things just can't be overcome.

Satsuki failed, though. She trampled all over everyone at Honnouji to get a shot at Ragyo and then bungled it. Her vaunted willpower and personal strength amounted to less than nothing, since it drove her to push away or destroy everyone who could have helped her at that pivotal moment. Her success came only when she started to rely on others to cover her weaknesses, because trying to be strong all the time left her brittle.

Ryuuko's arc had a little of the friendship angle, but its main feature was figuring out what she wanted. She was angry that her father was killed, but she didn't know how to react to it. Satsuki criticized her over a lack of ambition, but Ryuuko wanted all the information before she fully committed to revenge. In the end, she realized what she wanted was actually closure. She won't ever get a chance to actually connect with her father, so she fulfills his last wish by ending the Life Fiber threat.
Her failures can all be chalked up to losing her temper and acting without thinking, or assuming her enemies (Sanageyama, in particular) were complete morons. "Don't Lose Your Way" is the core theme for a reason.

Her arc wasn't a straightforward one and she backslid a few times, but it was consistent over all. I may be biased, though. The revenge vs. closure thing hit pretty close to home for me, so someone with different experiences may find it unsatisfying.

Yeah, all the things you said sound right including the last thing. I guess it wasn't bad for what it was trying to be, but unsatisfying describes it pretty well for me. I just prefer the other kind of story and overlaid that need on what I was seeing in KLK

She is still so lovable. I prefer her in normal people clothes, so the ending was nice to me knowing that she could wear whatever she'd like. Poor Senketsu, though.

Ryuko is the ultimate weapon her father made her to be, and she carries that weight, she's cool and Satsuki is way cooler in many ways, agreed. I still prefer Ryuko lol

About the two others, so what if they have tools? Their opponents are way stronger, their tools allow their fighting spirits to express themselves in battle is all

Plus in the case of TTGL they're special mechas, they're not *really* pre-existing, we have no idea who makes them or anything

About LWA, spoilers ahead, careful, now the spoilers are right after this, Akko had her magic stolen, she can't do anything, her only magic is believing in herself. Maybe you could use that info

Some things can't be overcome? Gurren Lagann is about changing the universe so you can have your future the way you choose, they overcome litterally everything

she grew up getting bullied and became a very bitter person because of it. and then there are the daddy issues. in truth, she would turn everyone down because she knows she would act distant. if youre persistent she will simply get mad at you and feel sorry for you at the same time. sorry because youre putting up with her cuntiness for the slim chance of seeing her naked. i dont see her giving affection at all.

After re-watching the series after a long time, I want a second season. Set it few years later. More Ryuuko, more Mako, more them bonding with Satsuki, more Elite Four (five if you count Iori), Senketsu coming back or being revived, and new enemies for them to beat the crap out of!

It won't mean much from a stranger but when you get to the point of suicide, the best way to get past it is to live for yourself, for indulgence and not really care about what people think. I've done it myself, I attempted on my own life but was saved and decided to seek a course of action for myself.
