Hi n my cube bike just arrived this morning and i took it out for a test ride. Im 275lbs and i stood up on the pedals while driving cause its fun but turns out the hole you put your pedal into got fucked and pedal fell of a bit later.
Is this covered by warranty? What should i tell them? How fucked am i? Is there any diy fix to this?

Meaning you cross threaded the pedals or what?

For some reason being "that bike guy" everyone knows, I get this question a lot. I guess because crank arms are often made of softer alloy than the pedal axle. The answer is no, if you fucked up the threads, that's on you. Luckily anything that isn't a BSO you can look up what kind of crankset it is, and order a new one on the internet. I assume this isn't a dura ace crank? You're probably not out more than $50. If it's the non driveside crank arm that you rekt, it will be cheaper vs the drive side.

you mean this hole ? just reach out to them act like you know nothing and ask for a solution, installing the pedals in the wrong side seems impossible as you would notice that it wont go in, even if you force it, the only other thing i could think of is that the pedals threads are not the same size as the hole, so the pedal could go in but wiggle and fuck the crank threads as you were riding, post a picture, did you installed the pedals yourself ? honestly just act retarded, call them and use the the customer is always right etc etc

Yes
I looked up the crankset and its 40 bucks, can i change it myself?
Also i found some tools for fixing it but it looks like its not a cheaper solution. Is changing the crankset my best bet?

Yea. Honestly that one pedal seemed off to me from start, like it didnt fit properly and i had trouble installing it. Then it immediately got fucked while driving

Yeah just get a tool to change it yourself, it will come in handy later anyway

Also I agree with the acting retarded approach, it has worked for me when I fucked shit up in the past, just don't point fingers, making them feel good about helping is the best way to get free shit, act like you have no idea why it got damaged but you figured it was time to ask the experts

Never force, they aren't designed for it. Most people aren't used to the softness so they figure "what harm could it do if I just twist harder". If you can't get it screwed all the way in with delicate baby fingers, something is wrong

Pedals weren't tight enough, crank is fucked. Pedals should be pretty fucking tight (grease threads first). Being 275 doesn't help but shoudn't on its own be anywhere near enough to destroy a crankset if it's put together properly.

If by chance only the left side is fucked you can probably buy that arm separately for a lot cheaper. Otherwise this is a perfect opportunity to upgrade your crankset+bottom bracket from whatever square taper junk you're buying for $40 to something that's higher quality and easier to work on.
