RON PAUL /out/
I'm trying to get out there, much like you guys - and I need help.
Let's start small; what would I need to survive in the forest from friday morning to monday morning?
I'm pretty much a noob.

Here's my current equipment, please add things!

- Alice Pack (large) + LC-2 Equipment Belt + Butt Pack
- Compass + Map of the area
- Swiss Army Knife (Wenger Classic 18)
- US Army water canteen (plastic) + Canteen Cover to strap it on the LC-2 belt
- German army camping cutlery
- German army one-man tent
- medium Maglite
- WJQ-308 folding shovel

I guess that's pretty much it. Hope you guys can suggest some stuff I could get until coming friday.

Knife + Firesteel

No.298268 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hello people,

first: excuse my language, english is not my first. Currently I am still using a firesteel with attached scraper thingy. Since it might get lost, break, or whatever, I want to do it the bushcraft way and use my knife as a scraper. Thing is, I have a Glock field knife. inb4 hurr glock, no, I won't replace it and buy one for ten times the price, as it has taken me through several hikes, tours and whatnot and I really like it. Now the problem with it is the baack of the blade is a) too smooth and b) it has no real edge with which to scrape the steel.
Now here is my problem: I thought of just filling a part of the back close to the handle to roughen it up, but I don't know how that will affect the structural integrity of the knife, i.e. weaken the back so it might break easier. I mean, we are talking about a fraction of a mm, but couldn't that already suffice to weaken it? I am not educated in metallurgy and knife-making, so I thought I might ask here. Maybe someone has done something similar before and has experience.

Pic related, but not mine. Red circle indicates area.

Pick one; the top one. (Is this how you use semicolons?

Hey /out/, is it a (really) bad idea to buy decent boots second-hand, such as on eBay, even if they're from a great brand and/or look to be in good working order?

Looking to buy a multitool for the car in case shit goes down so im looking at models with belt cutters but also with the ability to break car windows with minimal hassle.
Reading about pic related they are saying that the C4 spike handles that well. Is that the case? It looks very blunt on the picture and if brute force is required i dont see why a tool would be necessary at all.

Any thoughts?

> Family groups always fuck up any kind of /out/ing.

Oh JESUS FUCK YES. Family groups are the stench of Death at a camping ground/picnic site/etc.

Obviously Breeders are the Future, so Obviously they're Entitled to Everything.

>don't you dare go into the swimming hole while my kids are in you, you fucking paedophile
>so what if they've been using it all day?

>my kids /need/ to watch their shows on the camp-kitchen TV for 15 straight hours (even if their faces are in a Nintendo for the whole camping trip)
>and don't get near my kids while they're using the kitchen, paedophile

>I'm not going to tell you what our holiday has been like, you single male travelling ALONE.

Thank god the Grey Nomads are nothing like this...
