>>2701568So I got a question for you fellas. Recently made myself some hickory syrup and have now been bit by the syrup bug. It's too late for tapping trees in my region now, but I want to plan for next winter.
However, I don't have a lot of maples so I was looking to try other trees as well. I found an article about trees other than maples that can be tapped. The two that appeared on the list which I have on my property were black walnuts and beeches.
I probably have enough black walnuts to make one or two mason jars worth of syrup, but I have an fuck ton of beech trees. The thing is, even though the article said they could be tapped, it did not elaborate like it did with other trees. And when I google beech tree tapping, all that comes up are some articles from New York saying it has potential, but nothing else.
So I guess I am just curious if any of you have ever attempted it. Or just general tree tapping advice in general.
