"Let's argue about cameras that cost less than 500 bucks again" edition
All video related questions and discussion is intended for this thread. Here we discuss techniques, gear and anything else related to capturing video footage. Please don't pretend to be an expert if you don't know what you're talking about. Kindly leave your ego at the door.
Posting short films/scripts or other work you've done is encouraged.
We tend to use and recommend DSLRs/mirrorless cameras because they provide phenomenal picture quality for their price, have large sensors (ie the same size used in high-end cinema cameras and higher) and have interchangeable lenses.
In contrast, consumer camcorders normally have much smaller sensors and a fixed lens.

Quick FAQS
>what’s the best camera available on a “budget”?
The blackmagic pocket cinema camera 4k
>>what’s a good beginner video camera?
Anything that works, shoots at least 1080p and preferably has interchangeable lenses. Any recommendation beyond that will cause arguments so read the fucking sticky if that isn't satisfactory.
>Can I use a zoom lens for video?
Yes
>Do I need cine lenses?
No
>Do I need 4k?
No. It will make your footage look sharper if it’s in focus, and it gives you breathing room in post. But 1080p is still absolutely fine
>Can someone tell me if my video is any good?
Yes, but be prepared to receive harsh criticism. If you're going to waste 5 minutes of our time with a shitty out-of-focus montage of nothing then we'll tell you that it's crap

Things Hasselblad nophotos don't talk about

>Barn doors in the back open when you depress the shutter release and close when you let go. If you want to take a pic slower than 1/60 and you forget to hold the button, you underexpose.
>Because of the barn doors, the self timer is useless without special equipment.
>Lenses without an armed shutter cannot be mounted. One tiny spring mechanism inside the lens that locks the shutter open and triggers it. If it gets broken while the lens is mounted then you have to take apart the camera body to take the lens off.
>If you mirror lockup by accident and then decide you want mirror down, you must jam the dark slide into the body and take the film back off, then rewind, then undo everything you just did.
>The camera's strap lugs in natural position block you from taking out the dark slide. So every time you want to take a picture you have to awkwardly fumble it out of the way.
>Filter ring has a bayonet instead of threads so you can't use normal filters
>All cameras after the 500cm are crippleware versions of it.
>Unmounting a stuck lens involves unscrewing pressure-loaded springs inside the dark box, placed millimeters away from the rear lens element, so if your screwdriver slips you will put a deep scratch/optically destroy the lens.
>Early lenses are parameterized by EV instead of aperture&shutter even though it is constrained by available settings. To get to the aperture and shutter you want, you have to wade through a maze of unrelated ones. From Bulb+f/2.8 to 1/500s+f/22 you have to change it FIVE TIMES.
>Early lens controls have knife-sharp metal edges that cut into your flesh during use. Their focus rings are so nasty that people get accessory knobs for them.
>Even die-hard fans admit all the Planar 80mm 2.8 are soft wide open.
>Not 6x7
CHADmiya, PenCHAD and CHADji would never abuse its customers like this. Not a camera for professionals. Why does HassleCRINGE has so much contempt for their users?
