>>4270714The great irony of those who live to be seen by others is that they are rarely remembered or cherished for it. You can die and I can transfer my opinion of you to someone else and the world will keep on turning, because "you" were ever only my opinion of you. I've known a number of people like this, and some of them did die, and no one actually cared that much except their female relatives.
Basically it's because your mode of existence is like an animal. Think of yourself like a dog who only barks to be heard, or a cat who only meows when its hungry. But never, ever does an animal write its thoughts down whether someone opens the book or not. And the "person" mode of existence is well, like a person. This is such basic shit it's in the bible. Man is the only animal that does not mindlessly follow the life that was planned for him by god. Man is the only animal that can do things just for his own mind.
History usually forgets the non-people, you were all just cute ornaments. You can hope for some legacy if you are exceptionally well trained and work very hard for your master - everyone else. However, people, they are of some interest. People are interesting. They think to themselves and think new things that no one else was thinking, because they didn't care if anyone else understood it. Even a lot of people who were seen, eventually, did not have that as their goal. Rather being seen or heard was the means to an end, modifying others behavior or acquiring wealth and status.
