painting (and with it photography) in its core, is and was always used to turn ones creativity, self-expression and imagination into reality, into something physical that everyone else can see and appreciate.
visual arts, as a whole, serve only one purpose before all else and that's putting your imagination, creativity and self-expression into realization.
thats why painters (and some photographers) will always hate the likes of, i don't know, let's say product photographers, sports photographers, wedding photographers, street photographers, landscape photographers and so on and so forth, in this day and age, create so called snapshots aka. imagery created without any imagination, creativity or self-expression whatsoever, for the sole purpose of profiteering. AND THE WORST PART IS: most of these people actually, genuinely believe they are creating art by just snapshoting an image of something.
