"Good, report to the castle in three days and tell the gate guard that I summoned you. You'll be let in. Come early and washed to the castle, you WILL be in the presence of noble personages, so there are certain things that you'll have to be taught before ceremony begins."
"Yes sir, I'll make sure to arrive early."
"Good man. Now I shall let enjoy your free time. I must notify instructor Lak of our agreement." And with that the Captain strides off, out of the barracks.
The silence left by the departing captain lasts for mere moments before Joz whistles loudly in amazement “You lucky bastard,” he says giving you a slap on the back “Only a few months training and they’re already making you a member of the Royal Guard.”
“No, they’re not, you heard Captain Laro they’re just short handed and need an extra body for the day. It’s not-”
“Make way!” Joz continues ignoring your protests “Protector of the Royal Buttocks Matthias is coming. Everybody make way!” Joz calls out, walking in front of you and making sweeping motions with his arms as if to clear a crowd. “I swear give it another week and they’ll be making you King of Hyrule.”
“What are you shouting about now Joz,” a trainee says entering the barracks.
“Matt here, just got an assignment as a royal guard.” Joz says and before you have a chance to clarify, the word spreads like wildfire through the barracks and across the training yard. Soon you find yourself in a circle of your fellow trainees being bombarded with questions and speculation about your assignment.
>You do your best field all the questions thrown at you in an attempt to both appease and get the other trainees to disperse so that you can get some rest.>You can’t help but join in the speculations about your assignment, you hadn’t heard about anything special happening at the castle in the coming days, but then again you don’t have your ear to the ground like some of the other trainees.>Joz’s prank has gone a little far this time as if you didn’t have enough problems with your fellow trainees this will distance them even further from you in the future. It’s time to turn the tables and give Joz a taste of his own medicine.
