>>5968999“Come on Avatar.” Zuko says. He fires one-two punches, creating wild fireballs that fly towards the Avatar, who spreads them into the air with a few round swings of his staff. Using his staff once more, he sweeps forward and lets a wide gust of wind fly towards Zuko, who jumps away from it, using his time in the air to launch an arc of fire with a powerful kick.
The Avatar dodges by jumping on top of the captain’s cabin. He raises his staff to prepare another airbending technique.
Then lowers it. “I give up.”
You open your eyes wide, you look at Uncle, who looks somberly at the scene, and then at Zuko, who is clearly furious.
“What?!” Zuko yells. “What do you mean you ‘give up’?”
“I don’t want to fight!” The Avatar yells back. “I never wanted to fight! Not against you, not against anyone!” He continues. “I never wanted this!”
“You’re a coward!” Zuko points at the Avatar. “Is that why you came all the way down here?!” He says. “To hide from what you didn’t have the will to do?!”
“I never asked for any of this!” The Avatar yells again, tears welling up in his eyes. “I wanted to be normal!” He sits down, and his welled up tears turn into a cry.
You feel your heart jump up. You’re not quite sure what this feeling is. Is it sadness, maybe? Are you… feeling sad for the Avatar?
Zuko lowers his hand and rolls them up into a fist. He lets his anger get the better of him and delivers a powerful, fiery blow on the ship’s hull, piercing right through it. “I will not let you humiliate me any further. You will fight or you will die! Understand?!” He starts stomping through the bridge towards the kid.
The Avatar doesn’t answer, he’s just curled up into a ball.
