“Comms, get Commander Desmond to start boarding the heavy cruiser.” You command, sweat flowing down your face as you bring the Timur to the side, dodging yet another M.A.G. round.
The frontal plate of your armour is beginning to slowly collapse, as more and more railgun fire finds purchase. In exchange, your own weaponry had finally begun to strip away a few plates here and there on the frontal plating of the heavy cruiser. But that armour blown away is depressingly tiny compared to the damage you are taking.
Your missile ships find much easier time targeting the abomination. Missiles flying free and unperturbed. What AS the ship has is tiny compared to its size, and even then, it primarily concentrates on keeping the battleship grade M.A.G. cannon safe, allowing for damage to keep mounting on the hull itself. Though the ship is large, its armour is only as strong as it is thick. Overall, the hull appears civilian issue, meaning that the missiles easily pierce and detonate.
And speaking of the cannon. The Innovation once more shifts by a few degrees as it fires its M.A.G. cannon. The round flying entirely of the mark, but you cannot help but feel trepidation, as all it would take is for it to hit once to cleave apart one of your cruisers or a destroyer.
The rest of the engagement goes indecisively.
The last enemy ship on your port is finished off by your Raider-class, just as squadrons of spacecraft close in and begin delivering their payloads. Lashawn takes the brunt of the attack, two of his frigates quickly overwhelmed by bombing runs combined with missile volleys of the fighters, in exchange losing some of their own. A grouping breaks and begins delivering strikes upon the Raider, blowing apart a chunk of its armour, the nearby Defenders open up their AS weaponry and inflict a score of casualties in exchange. You had ordered a guardian to break off and rush to their aid, hopefully it will be enough.
On your starboard. Two more frigates are finished off by the Raiders, taking some fire in return, their frontal plating absorbing most of the return fire. Unfortunately, the last of your Fenrir’s is not so lucky, a concentrated run upon it by the spacecraft cripple and destroy it. Perhaps expecting this loss, the intelligence officer had transferred their command to one of the Pummelers in your backlines. Another run begins harassing the Vigilance to your starboard, delivering blows upon its plating. In response, Alpizar had sent forth her own spacecraft to tie the enemy down, as the entire formation begins to move onwards to support them and to hopefully push the pirates back.
Meanwhile, Desmond and his trio of Reavers begin to close distance with the Aggressor and they start launching their shuttles. To carry out your orders.
