Booker is still in the room with the picture of Amphibikite. It seems like he's been holding the picture and looking at it since Joe went to sleep! When you step into the room the floor creaks and he looks up from the picture at you! "Hrmph. Can't sleep? Not surprised you can't sleep with that jacket on your head."
You walk across the room to where Booker is sitting and see Torrentani napping in a bucket of water!
You look at Booker and don't know what to say, so you just say something!
"Mon abilities?"
"Hrmph. You're interested in becoming a mon trainer just like that other kid? Well, which mon do you want to know about?"
This is it! Are you really going to ask him? You can't believe you're doing this!
"Cutémon?"
Booker waves his hand and turns his head away! You think that means he doesn't think you're serious!
What? You're really going to make him think you're serious?
You give him a determined look!
Booker turns his head and looks at you again! "Hrmph. Well, you're probably never going to see a Wild Cutémon, but I suppose there's no harm in telling you. Now, let's see..."
Booker scratches his beard and looks out the window at the moon! It seems like he's thinking about your question!
After a few moments he turns his head back and looks at you! "Most mons have two special abilities, but I seem to recall that Cutémons have three special abilities. There's the Overbite, where the Cutémon's outer fangs extend... there's the Hair Pin, where the Cutémon can use its hair to tangle another mon..."
What? He only told you about two special abilities!
"Three?"
"Hrmph... I don't remember what the Cutémon's third special ability is."
What? He can't remember? Well, he is pretty old, after all! You had better ask him everything else you want to know while you can!
"Mental connection?"
"That's right. Mons and human trainers form a special bond that doesn't exist in the wild. The human trainer helps the mon focus its natural abilities in ways that it wouldn't do on its own. Normally, it takes at least a year for a human trainer to form the connection with a mon, but I remember reading something... what was that punk professor's name? Plumtree?"
What? Booker is talking about Professor Plumtree?
Booker scratches his beard and leans back in his chair. "I think he was working on <span class="mu-r">a device</span> that would instantly form the mental connection with a Cutémon."
What? <span class="mu-r">A device</span>? Is Booker talking about <span class="mu-r">the cutécaptor</span>?
