Those Shermans are about 1/32 scale, the gold standard for army men. I believe they're from BMC, as is this King Tiger of same scale.

Those are some very nicely painted Afrika Korps dudes. Wish I could think of somewhere off-hand that you could get some, Toy Soldiers Depot used to have them but they've been out of stock for a while. Good call on avoiding Chinese sources, the ones I've seen on Ali look like they came from well-used molds.

I've seen army men show up on kijiji every now and then, heck I sold a chunk of my collection through it a few years ago. They can show up just about anywhere, might want to try there or craigslist or other local equivalent; wouldn't bother with garage sales though, my family hits those a lot and I can't remember anyone ever finding army men at one.

I got the Shermans from Toy Soldiers Depot, they're BMC. Mine were bought before they started including stickers, which apparently jumped the price from $11 to $15... They also make a King Tiger.

They do come with soldiers but vehicle-only sets aren't common, this is the only one I've seen so far.

There's places that sell tanks and stuff individually too. I'd suggest something like those first couple links, you'd then also get some additional troops, potential allies/enemies for your B-o-S dudes.
