I'm not shitting on these older sets, I love them and grew up on them but they are much more underwhelming in person compared to how awesome they look with the excellent art style of the boxes.
Just seeing these on the shelves as a kid in a store.... man Lego knew how to attract you to their product. The way they photographed these back when using hand-made backdrops and pieces to bring out the character of the set too is amazing.
