>>9515782So the most important thing to MOCing steam trains is getting the internals of the wheels set up first and foremost. Sometimes you can get away with stuffing motors/batteries into a tender or a separate train car, but most of the time you're gonna have to figure out a way to stuff a motor, a battery box, and all the necessary gears into the engine itself.
Pic related is an unmotorized example of what you should figure out with your steam locomotives first before getting into the stuff above the wheels. Once you figure out a chassis that you like that you know can go through lego's curves without derailing then you can start on the rest of the build.
I don't have any real instructions to share due to a bunch of the stuff I cribbed off of when I was starting out and learning train techniques coming from Brickshelf, and it's almost impossible to find what you're looking for there unless you remember who uploaded that shit ages ago. I'll find something though, gimme a few mins
