>>10848769Anon is right, the toyline was greatly g1 inspired since it was the 20th anniversary, thus marking a renaissance in g1 pandering ever since in the collector toy lines (Alternators, Masteeerpiece, Robotmasters etc....), I(m not saying it worked for everyone (many of them kept the issue of reusing existing g1 names but to a whole random different design, but then you got
Rodimus Prime
Star Saber
Wheeljack
Springer (copter only)
Arcee or Ariel... idk
Inferno
Omega Supreme
Galvatron
Starscream (Reverse)
Shockwave
Scorponok
Ravage
& all 3 combiners, (af far as in japan, the limbs all got named towards their g1 members, except RIP the attribution of JP names for Storm Jet & Construction Maximus)
Most of them served as g1 characters in the fandom's toy collection (I greatly think how it was the case for Wheeljack, Shockwave & Galvatron) before CHUG existed to greatly do proper g1 toon designs
Even the box on the japanese releases of the toys got a 20th anniversary logo in a corner
