A "LEGO something" used to be a simplified, charming version of the original thing. Now they are accurate replicas. Which would make sense if you went the whole Mega Construx path and made things "realistic" or very high fidelity because your figures are also striving for that.
LEGO minifigs were never supposed to be used in a "high fidelity" environment and such I don't think this mix fits very well.
To me, minifigs are funny, charming approximations of people. So in a sense, their setting also should be a funny and charming approximation of whatever it is trying to be.
2. Star Wars was a different beast in the late 2000s. I'm pretty sure that if your toy is based on an IP the perception regarding the toy will shift as people's perception of that IP will shift.
Star Wars has recently dropped the ball a lot.
I used to be a fan, right now I'm more of a disconnected observer because I don't think the direction they decided to take the franchise is a decent one.
And no, it isn't even about catering to X group or Y group. They just wrote it poorly.
