If you want to make it more mainstream palatable, experiment with mythology from different cultures or focus on an underunexplored one. Hilariously for lego, even greek or roman would count.

Add terrain (!), terrain dependent vehicles and equipment, keep the human characters cool but straightforward. You could go really deep on the ecological worldbuilding.
