I managed to snag this set secondhand for real cheap (bottom shelf in pic), originally only wanting it for the demons but I was pretty pleasantly surprised by the build.

It's definitely got a "big ass toy" feel rather than a display piece, but the shaping is nice, it's got some cool stuff going in and the way the bar-shooter button feels is great. That said if not for the figs it'd be a skippable set, but Jin and Yin are great figures for great characters, so if it's around $90 only pick it up if you're an MKfag or a figfag (which I am).

Cobi's bricks are good. The clutch power is greater than Lego's and the gaps are smaller. Prints are also superior. But honestly, everyone's prints are currently better than Lego's. Cobi also uses more single-use pieces for the front of certain planes and vehicles.

Low tech fantasy wildlife research. You can have special moulds for smaller critters but the bigger ones should be brick built. If you want to make it more mainstream palatable, experiment with mythology from different cultures or focus on an underunexplored one. Hilariously for lego, even greek or roman would count.

Lineup writes itself really. Add terrain (!), terrain dependent vehicles and equipment, keep the human characters cool but straightforward. You could go really deep on the ecological worldbuilding.

I inventory everything on rebrickable because I'm fucking insane and probably autistic. It does come in handy being able to know exactly what I have before I even look though, so I think it's worth it. Storage is done with plastic bins for plates/bricks, large plastic drawers for big pieces, and these awesome removable cubby boxes for everything else. In the US you can get them at Harbor Freight for really cheap.

Still kind of hilarious to me that they did a 1:1 remake of the set, but I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Kind of like the older one better though (and not just because it's the one I actually own), just in spite of the fl*shies it feels more old-school lego SW. Got the proper headgear moulds and face prints at any rate. And blunt shooters > those zoomer missiles any day. The flesh hands on C-3P0 are a bit awful, granted.

I bought a battleship from Cobi. Their quality is decent, although the bricks don't come apart as well as with Lego, as >>10811933 mentioned. They make decent sets from their factory in Warsaw, Poland.

However, importation into the US is a bit of a challenge. Unless you're buying multiple sets or a really large set you'll get the short end of the stick on the shipping fee. You can buy Cobi from some US tank museums and other US historical institutions but you'll still be paying the shipping fee.

Production runs for some items are somewhat limited, so you need to check their website to make sure an item is available in quantity for purchase. Lastly, because Cobi is a Polish company Soviet and Nazi WWII items are usually priced slightly higher than comparable American and British items.
