>>7348423I read somewhere that since Lego doesn't own the patent or manufacturing rights to the old-style baseplate or roadplate design, they've started to phase them out of production to the point that they're now only really available in the modular buildings like pic related, which go for several hundred dollarydoos.
Also, I would think that the packaging requirements to fit in a 32x32 stud baseplate combined with the shipping costs as well as the shelf space requirments most retailers have are a part of it as well. It sucks though, because I miss getting regular baseplates in sets.
