>>8782054I think pic related is a perfect example. I own both of these models and when compared to the source material it is obvious which one wins. Durability would also go to the newer model, aswell as size at 3 times the parts count, and it has more interactive play features. By any metric for comparison the newer model is the better toy and display piece, however im not selling the one on the right, Im selling the newer one. I feel that once you have achieved such a high level of detail and accuracy, it barely resembles a lego kit, not at a distance anyways. I may aswell get the hasbro shuttle (great toy) if I just want a scale model of the ship that can also be played with. I really cant explain why the older model is more charming to me short of the usual buzzwords "soul" or "simplicity" and I recognize that it is objectively worse, but thats just how I see it
