There isn't a "problem", or some complex "production" challenge to overcome, Lego is just cheap, greedy and endlessly cutting corners.
They'd rather produce THREE new and unique monkey molds for a single Disney set that no one gives a shit about and we'll never see again than commit to producing something decent that's fun to play with.
Monkey was the living embodiment of everything good about Lego and they died when he died.
