The charm of LEGO is elegant parts usage- but it's only elegant with a limited pallette. There is no elegance in a bloated selection of single-use parts
That shuttle happens to be fine, but I hate the new X-Wing canopy element, for example. I loved from '99-2010 they basically had one canopy element for all Starfighters, and it was perfect. You could use it outside of starshit, you could use it outside of spaceships in general.
Now the X-Wing uses a specialty printed mold that is ONLY an X wing canopy, NOTHING ELSE.
It is my opinion that LEGO has gone from approximating a model with existing pieces to 1:1 replicating a model with new pieces. This very well might be the result of retarded licence managers that have big control over the sets, and want "that to look more movie-accurate"
