>>9688242I love it, Ice plant has such a striking color scheme.
>>9687967He has serious money and is putting it in exactly the right place LEGO wise. Very old sealed sets are equivalent to the reserved list. Was totally not expecting to see this from him, but I also shouldn't be as surprised as I am, his game is cool collectibles.
>>9688081I am also not a big fan of it, but I'm also usually not in the market for sealed sets, I'm plenty happy with used ones with boxes and instructions.
He did say they've "liked LEGO" but never really talked about it, so I do wonder how far his interest goes. No use in gatekeeping though, and if anything, his investment in the product speaks to the strength of it as a store of value. It's a big endorsement. Not that we needed more confirmation of that, but this is like tasteful investing VS the chuds who buy 20x of a new release and wait 5 years for a 25% return. He showed forestmen, so he obviously has some decent taste.
It may bring a new swath of otherwise uninterested investors, but it wasn't exactly a secret that LEGO is cool and expensive.
Again, strong upward movement of sealed sets means almost nothing to me as I'm not in the market for buying sealed. If anything, it just makes my used collection go up in price.
