I think the second one makes the mech easier to read.
If you want a higher angle like the first pic, a different arm position (also higher) might help getting a clear view of the legs.

Brown from like 2010-2016-ish is by far the worst. Then there were some issues with dark red, dark blue and pearl gold around the same time.

90s pieces are more chemically stable because they are made with pre-dyed abs that's not dyed trans.

I like designing things and didnt care for some of megas designs. For example the locust used one massive mold for the entire cockpit which clashed with the blocky nature of the rest of the model, the cobra didnt actually retract its turrets/stabilizing arms, the sentinel enforcer was way too small, etc. I owned nearly every (Bungie) set but sold them in favor of making my own. I also appreciate the more simplistic style of lego overall.

Are you talking about these? If so, I make them on 16x16 footprints and use the same technique as the large Creator buildings where the top of each level's walls are mostly tiles with a couple of studs on opposite corners to anchor the levels together.

Ah, good to know in combined mode the knees still function. I like the look of the mini mech attached, it's like added armor. Though I would probably just keep them separate and make up some weaponized chest add-on.

I really wish the bow mold didnt have the arrow and pulled back string. It would look so much better just at rest. it literally only looks ok when in an active firing stance. and even the the arrow sticks out behind the string way too much.
A not pulled back bow would look good both in use and not in use..

Id have done that. but I couldnt justify paying 5 times the price of the 3 in 1 castle for maybe only twice the effect. really did, but the cost benifits just didnt hold up logically. even though it would look nice next to my millenium falcon. having THE icon sci-fi ship on one side, and THE icon fantasy castle on the other. it would just be a great balance.

I have a dedicated Lego account with its own bank card. I started with a couple hundred bucks, bought bricks exclusively from Facebook and yard sales, and put the resale profit back into the account. Whenever I buy a new set, I bricklink whatever figs and pieces I don't want in order to break even. I don't even comprehend people spending their own money on Lego when it generates its own value so trivially. I refuse to """invest""" in new sets, i just make my Lego pay for itself. All that said this year I'm up a few hundred bucks until new august releases.

finished one of the castle sides. I especially like the chicken builds. the set has a lot of nice little aesthetic touches like the vegetation growths and brick molded pieces. Not a fan of the beak on the weathervane though. I think the piece used for the chicken beak in black would look better.

Table is way too small for a loop so that's the most I could really fit. It can't go back and forth because my train has an extra car, and it can only move a few inches towards either direction. It's mostly just a place to incorporate the train into my city. The first level will be underground, half of it will be a subway train station, and the other half an underground car park for a hotel/mall above.

Good question. Right now, I think I want the fortress mainly for the soldiers, *but* if they also do a remake of the Caribbean Clipper it becomes a lot more valuable to me. On the other hand, they will be releasing subs every 2-3 years for the foreseeable future, but the one in August will be the largest they've ever done.

the arm doesn't belong to the minifigure it's currently attached to BTW, i swapped it with an unbroken arm, so this minifig i made in the lego store will now inherit the cracked arm.

this is also the third time this happened with a few other arms

Lego switched to transparent plastic pellets and dye, when in the past they used colored plastic that was stronger.

I've switched out hundreds of arms and probably thousands of hands and never had a crack.

IIRC they started changing the plastic formulas in 2012 but it wasn't all at once. For example, trans-clear pieces made after about 2019 are UV-reactive and glow when you shine a UV light on them.

Nta but I think it was maybe mid 2000s. But there's also batches of chemically unstable colors that become brittle. For me it's around the mid 2010s brown that cracks. So the Sandcrawler and Simpsons House rooftops will crack. Also have experience with the dark red/wine red cracking.

6 studs wide is plenty to seat 4 in a sedan and 5 in an SUV. Maybe 8 studs is needed for RVs and larger trucks, but the sets do a pretty fine job with 6 studs too.

I can get that. a lot of times knock off pieces arent machined to the same standard as lego and dont click together well or have exactly the right proportions or textures or otherwise stand out as a different item from the rest.

I've always wanted a Hornby train set but never had the space for one. I've recently been looking at the lego trains but they seem to have loads of different power units. What's the best one to get? I'd like to be able to run multiple trains with one controller or tablet

Power functions can switch between 4 frequencies but requires more space due to needing the receiver, powered up stuff is controlable through an app but I cant vouch for it will pick some up soonish as I want to power up the monster hunters train an am limited for space
