kingdom figure is good but it's dumb you can't fold the gorilla feet up. and they went with a furry-bellied gorilla, which I mean, some gorillas are, but plenty aren't, including Primal in the show
either way, get the Premium Finish version. The Kingdom one comes in toy colors, so the gorilla skin is gray. PF still isn't perfect since the fur is black instead of gray, but at least the skin is blue and the eyes have sclerae (too much if you ask me). also they didn't paint the fur atop his brow like they should have. I mean it's sculpted to be hairless, another mistake they made.
but he's a good toy in general. love the forearm blasters.

They were going for realism with Kingdom's BW cast. If he didn't have a fur diaper covering up down there, they would have had to give him exposed monkey dong. The fur was the best option.

they gave him human feet. no idea why they do this with cartoon apes sometimes. the one in Generator Rex had that AND the oldtimey dog/bear/deer nose people used to put on cartoon monkeys.

I don't see the nose issue, some gorillas have it like that, the feet toes might've been avoided cause they were easy to brake or looked off sticking out in botmode.

I was going to try and defend them a bit, but you're kinda right. I was gonna say it's probably because a vehicle with boobies just hanging out somewhere on it would look dumb but this Blackarachnia has mouth boobs so I dunno.

Also I wish I held out for the premium finish of all the Kingdom shit. They're not even that much more cost-wise and would look great as a collection. Fuck.

Also minor nitpick on Silverbolt: he is too angular if that makes sense.

I don't have this version, but I have the Nemesis Primal version. Still in box because I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep it but I knew I would never find the 4 pack for a decent price if I ever wanted it. FOMO I guess. I'm thinking of opening it soon once I get more shelf space. Is the thigh chipping basically a guarantee on this mold?

Speaking of BW, got Scorponok on deep sale for like £15. He's really good! Beast mode is obviously quite cartoony/stylized but I really like it. My biggest issue with it is the legs are kinda puny, but it's a nitpick. I love how the scorpion head has a sort of neck and a jaw.

Robot mode is awesome. Probably the stronger of the modes, and decently articulated. The hip balljoints are large enough that they work as quasi-thigh swivels.
Stinger gimmick is somewhat addictive. The missile launcher claw is very cool, I like how the back of the claw acts as the trigger. Cyber bee is a neat little thing, though getting it pegged back on after launching can be tricky.
I really like the headsculpt, looks like he's positively furious rather than the dull surprise/s0iface we get with most open-mouthed TFs these days.
I still like the Kingdom mold (I have Sandstorm) but this guy is a hell of a lot of fun.

Got Road Rocket in today. Shes very cool, but maybe the 2nd fiddliest Legacy figure I've handled thus far (first being Buzzsaw). A little partsformy but thats something I've come to fogive these days, having now understood how pfevalent such a thing has ALWAYS been. If it isnt G1 Omega Supreme levels, I can forgive it.

Anyways, happy that G2 has gotten so much love lately.

Its funny. In my mind she was very similar to my poor beaten up original Road Rocket, but you get them together and they are worlds apart. I like it though. Anyways, tomorrow my Metalhawk arrives. G2 and the Headmasters (and beyond) era of G1 are my favorites, its so cool that there are a lot of updated figures based on that era right now. Much as I love pre movie G1, its very old news to me besides maybe Megs, Optimus, and Soundwave.

Idk why but I just find this figure charming. Reminds me of being a kid again. My only complaints really are her weapons really. A weird like... half wheel thing and energon blades that can combine into a shiriken. I would have much preferred sokething matching the original laser cycle blade weapon, or a sword given her ninja motiff.

But hey, at least they aren't hulk hands.

Yes - it's his wolf-mode's neck vertebrae/spinal column. His original transformation has his wolf head (which has the red orb/spark crystal on it fold all the way down and back, becoming his midsection, while the flap attached to the back of his wolf head flipped down to become his skirt, exposing the bones. The show made it look less gruesome and obvious.

Anyone with both the siege and kingdom Magnus molds know if I could get away with just swapping the leg panels to get the tighter alt mode or did they do that annoying thing where they slightly shift around tabs and slot positions on remolds so you can't mix and match?

Finally finished thicc fembot. Her name is Springform (as in the cake tin) and she turns into a bakery van. Painting turned into a bit of an exercise in frustration, thanks to a masking slip-up. Mercifully I managed to hide most of the botched bits with weathering (achieved with oil paints).

Soundwave didn't even have an Alternators release. His only vehicle-type altmodes are G2 recolor of a Go-bot, Machine Wars (recolor of Stalker), and a reuse of WFC Soundwave. Definitely awful compared to other Soundwaves.

I really don't think so. Shockwave isn't different enough from his Siege deco, and Megatron & Soundwave are always going to have new molds in the pipeline. So I'd hold out for something more substantial than the minimal retooling both of those molds got to make them have Earth appropriate alt modes.

You know, I like the idea of earthborn transformers, and I think it would make for a coolconceptual combinatik with the "Earth is a Cybertronian Colony" plotline from that end era of the IDW comics. Imagine a continuity where Earthican transformers are Headmasters and Targetmasters and Powermasters, all part of an intergalactic cybertronian alliance. I feel like this would be cool for both fans of original TFs and the Japanese continuities.

Finally assembled my Menasor. Other than some tolerance issues (Dead End's rear section will never line up), he's pretty cool. His only real flaw is that his heels don't fold perfectly flush so he has a slight forward lean to him. Maybe it's possible to shave it down, or they were hoping gravity would do the rest... it doesn't break the figure, but he's a cool and big robot man.

while this fight is way too franetic and shounen style (ninja star osprey is just too much), i like that they are incorporating the vehicle modes into combat. just punching/shooting is kinda boring and wasting potential. way better than the movies where they just shoot guns while in car mode
like when skywarp throws jazz then he circles back and accelerates into a tackle in the original into, that's cool. i always liked that in the WfC/FoC games you could ram your enemies or strategically transform in combat like that. or in devastation as a better example with more mechanical depth

i too like seeing altmodes better integrated into fights. beast wars touched on it a little, but they gave up after a while. and really, once we were in transmetals, altmodes were almost superfluous. and as inventive as the movie "partial transformation" idea was, something lots of fans had done forever by just popping an arm out of the vehicle mode to hold a gun, it also makse the dual modes seem ridiculous. why would you ever be a car when you could be a robot with a functioning drivetrain for legs etc. and considering how nice the physicality felt on their running in those movies, it was really a shame to see them not stomping around and pulling breakdancing moves.

but yeah. I feel like altmodes should be primarily about transportation. I like it fine when only one mode can fly. But at least with vehicles you have the addition of SPEED. so it makes sense to weaponize that speed, whether by flipping out some blades or just crashing into dudes.. or driving real fast off a ramp and then transforming midair.

I was a Three Kingdoms nerd growing up, I understand what you are saying - but you are not gonna get one of those glorious 1%, top tier, cream of the crop animes, being historically accurate to boot, by smashing Three Kingdoms (presumably Romance) and fucking Transformers together. And like it or not this DOES give people an excuse to assume anything about anything - because Transformers is primarily kids focused and the bar is just set that low by default. I could sperg out my self on what you are assuming to be the "Historic personage" of anyone from the period given that even the driest records are rife with bias.

And honestly, I think the most offensive casting/comparison (even if I gave it the thumbs up, again: peoples expectations/lowest common etc, etc i.e: it would be a guarantee even in the face of history nerd objections) is Optimus as the worm Liu Bei, ha.

He's still the nicest in the historical and romance accounts, and this only happens the first time you realize that he wasn't some blameless saint that Romance/vidya/etc made him out to be, leading you to overreact that "the meritocratic and ruthless Cao Cao is surely the good one because Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang are stupid." I've been through this and everyone's been through this, but it's not a good step to be stuck on. Being a Shufag is fine. So's liking whoever for whatever reason or whatever depiction, there's some people I hate whose certain portrayals or versions I'm fond of. I'm not saying that we have to be anal about sources, just that we shouldn't be vague and flippant about what we mean when we pick a historical/romanticized/popular era. e.g. Dong Zhuo is a monster in history and the Romance, but is also a jolly grandpa in the 2010 show, and is cruel but has some principles or fairness in Souten Kouro and can actually put up a fight: "I like Dong Zhuo" is going to give the impression you like a fucking monster unless you're pointing to a specific source or depiction.

Got this guy near the end of my shift yesterday, didn't have a chance to open him until today. I'm not ultra familiar with him but he evokes the same feelings I had when I saw the Japanese exclusive transformers in an old catalogue my dad had gotten from over there somehow or another in his collecting days.

Hes very cool, very solid, and while his alt mode isnt a perfect realistic Jet it definitrly captures that "old anime mecha jet" feel in so many ways to me. Love the colors even if the grey isnt perfect, but he does seem like he needs a little more painted detail or something here and there. Might get the toyhax stickers, though sometimes those go too far in my opinion.

Happy to have Metalhawk in my growing group of Autobots. While I started this new collection with MPM Blackout (and I do love him), I'm finding myself more and more drawn to the fun and fantastical bots with more sci-fi modes.

I enjoy that approach too. I think kaybe making the pretender shepls act like armor pieces you attach could work too, but they wouod have to cover most of the body while maintaining most articulation. I just want pretender shells (and inner robots) that are more than G1s "only the arms move" kind. Would also like to see them try the Double Pretenders again somehow. I know ot probably sounds crazy but with what I've seen lately I dont think its impossible.

I think if they did the shells as voyager-sized or so action figures with a big hollow space in their chest(or a backpack or something) a la Titans Return, and made the inner bots the same size as WFC Micros or the new Minicons it would actually be a lot easier that people like to make it out to be. And not having the larger shell transform(even if it would be really cool to have that) would cut down enough on partscount that I think having a little posable transformable guy as an accessory isn't too taxing on le budget. Looking at Jhiaxus rn, if there wasn't a need for his chest to store a nosecone you could definitely fit a little guy in that space

Not that hasbro's ever gonna do this ofc, i agree they're too cheap but I think it's more than possible

Maybe I paid a bit much, but I still love him and this mold.
His original purple visage being charred black by his own flames is a such a cool way to differentiate him and very character-appropriate battle damage. The black paint used on his jet bits also has this subtle glittery effect I really like. If he had more of that orange to break him up it'd be even better, and in season!

Heatsroke and Heartburn are cute little fellas too, though I question if a cybertronian would be able to experience either...

How often do you smell the perfume bottles and how distressing is it if someone else tries to smell them, thus removing the amount of scent left in the bottles

My favorite is growl and then nightflight, but seawatch and tote have made quite the impact on me. Tote is just so cute :} he’s just soo different and it reminds me of when I used to play with my uncles transformers when he would babysit us, like it was a cool surprise, as for preceptor it’s the g1 version, there’s something sooo cool about him being a microscope and his face looks like a penguin
With the bottles I work in cosmetics and different brands bring in those tiny samples, a lot of them I don’t like the scent I enjoy more so the ones that are warm soft fragrances like Eilish, it’s a soft warm vanilla and it matches my wave spray (it’s banana) so I smell like banana bread

My uncle before he passed had a bunch, I was young in the early 90s then, I remember he had menasor, megatron, scorpinok, prime, shockwave, and I think a couple of the autobots but I’m not too certain on those. He did gift me and my siblings some g2 waterchange guys though which was really sweet of him, he was my intro into robots and it’s a nice way to remember him :}

I finally have an Optimus Prime. I love everything about him except for the fact that his sword arrived bent and his energon axe thing is awkward. Their combined mode also leaves something to be desired, to me. This energon weapon unspoken gimmick of the Legacy line has really been hit or miss. Or honestly just miss. Just gimme a normal gun and a sword.

Anyways hes super cool and his transformation is more interesting than I expected given his visual similarities to the original (and my favorite) Optimus toy.

With Laser Prime though I do feel like the toyhax decals are borderline necessary. The trailer just doesnt feel right wothout Optimus burning down a forest for some reason.

Is the sword bendy plastic? You can warp it to the right shape if you heat it up and use something to press it flat, I've had to do that a couple times to RotF Bludgeon's sword and it always comes back to the right shape.

You can heat it and bend it back, regardless. Just be very careful and gentle with it. Hold it over a candle or something at a fair distance, and keep warming it, bending it, and holding it.

I've seen people say you can boil it and do the same thing, but I've never tried that personally, and I don't know if it works with clear plastic.

Or if you don't mind burning some money, get a 3P upgrade/replacement from the ebays.

I think the only difference between that and regular RotF Prime is the blades being replaced with hooks. If that's the case then yeah he's a cool toy even if you hate the movies, complex and pleasing in both modes.

Mainline guys were planned to release with the film, while the more accurate SS were gonna release later on down the line. But the movie got delayed meaning the Studio Series was able to release closer to the actual film. But, since they already had all the toys fully developed, it would be a waste to just can an entire toyline so fuck it just release both.

I think it was an overall good decision, more options for everyone is never a bad thing and both mainline and SS have different strengths and weaknesses(For instance ROTB Prime is great but I actually wish the Studio Series copied the leg transformation from its mainline counterpart, its a lot more clean than what he ended up with)

I like the SS Junkeons but not these Legacy ones. But I'm really not a fan of these weaponizer type figures or whatever, even if the Junkeon ones can transform without disassembly
