The working concept is that the soft-serve machine will be a sort of backpack attachment, the racks of missile cones will be the right pauldron, the big cone will be the left forearm and have a tube feeding from the tank on the side of the soft-serve machine, and the spoon will be the melee weapon.

Because despite whether or not it's trash, News is still News. Despite them all being shown off at the same time the castle has been talked to death while everything else from that stream has pretty much been forgotten already, with the Galaxy Explorer being the sole exception.

I like the way the Sanctum Sanctorum looks and I'd love to see it next to other modulars, but I don't $250 USD love it. I'd also only display it with the regular Dr. Strange and Wong and just bin the rest of the figures. Yeah I get it's to tie into the movies, but I don't need a Scarlet Witch or two more Stranges or yet another Iron Man or that fucker from Infinity War inflating the price. At least it doesn't come with America.

Do you have any favorite interactive action playfeature? You know those little gimmicks you activate like trapdoors, elevators, catapults, etc...
I think mine is exploding prison wall activated by the dynamite piece from the classic western theme

Alternatively, suggest your own ideas for future playfeatures. I may or may not be a Lego designer that will steal them.

FYI the older City trains are being phased out in favor of the new ones and will be retired by the end of July. If you like them more than the new ones you might wanna pick them up now before they go to aftermarket prices.

I am selling my whole NES collection next wednesday. I will be making a lot of money and will probably spend most of it on Lego sets. I was thinking about buying 1 or 2 older train sets. Unless you already own them I would much rather spend all that money to buy the vampire castle, laboratory and other smaller monster fighters sets. The thing about the Haunted House is that it's obviously meant to be in the vein of The Munsters/Addam's Family-type american gothic which feels very different from the rest of the line which is all about the more classic hammer horror eastern european style gothic.

Crime rate is incredibly high. I'd say living in LEGO City seems like nightmare. Criminals everywhere and a lot of fire too. Very dangerous place. There was a short lived series World City and cops had Robocop/Demolition Man dystopian feeling. They even had APC. Generally LEGO City spends majority of their founds on Police department and ironically it's still not enough. Either crime rate is that high or cops are so incompetent they burn money on shit like jets with cameras and large seaplanes - I'm not joking there was a police seaplane with 2 floaters and it was huge.

In my experience, glass cabinet and a weekly blast of compressed air.

The secret isn't in cleaning it once it's dusty, there's simply no easy way to do that, the secret is stopping it form getting dusty to begin with.

Also wash your walls and vacuum regularly, a clean house gets far less dusty.

The best way to clean lego is something to loosen the dust and then something to contain it. Most people with large layouts (that clean them) will use a small vacuum. If you can take it outside just dust everything off out there and you're good.

Obv one of the biggest drawbacks is it has zero resale value, so its just a total sunk cost.

Even just as a parts pack for the sails, black rigging, large boat pieces, it was a good deal. When I reuse them in a moc, you really can't tell they aren't legit.

They aren't in new sets, but they are plentiful and easy to get if you are willing to shell out like twenty bucks. You can get a huge raised baseplate for less than the cost of some weird rare minifigures...

Official Lego store has it at $70 AUD which is outrageous, Kmart (which tends to be a better option here) at $50 AUD, so around $35 USD.

Even $50 AUD feels a little overpriced though.

I pay for almost all of my Lego by scalping the fuck out of modular building sets, you can make an easy $100-$200 over retail within six months of them leaving shelves.

Normally I frown upon scalpers, but I fucking hate the whole modular building set line, so it's win/win.

Kmart has become an absolute retail powerhouse over the last 3-4 years here, insanely low prices on shit like Lego compared to everyone else. Not uncommon to find sets 30-40% cheaper there than other places.

My guess is they're running at a loss (or on razor thin margins) in hopes of securing a larger marketshare long term.

yeah I just quickly looked at the wiki page for kmart AU and it looks like that was the idea, back about a decade ago they just started offering lower prices and better/newer products and they started making money. clearly it worked and I assume they're doing the same thing now based on what you're saying. they're also owned by the largest australian company by revenue so that helps a bit. so wild, like I said the last time I was in a kmart it was during the final weeks of being open and they were selling everything including the shelves and clothing racks and cash registers, and it was just incredibly dirty and dilapidated because the employees didn't give a fuck and they were tearing everything out of it.

Picked up this for my nephew a few days ago, $270 at the Lego store, $200 at Kmart. It does make it hard as fuck to get stuff at Kmart though, if you go into an actual store the Lego section is typically picked clean, and stuff sells out real quick online.

It will look very different compared side by side in person than in that pic. I have the 3-1 castle and it doesn’t even look as good as the photo of itself on the left, while the pic on the right is probably the worst product pic the new castle has. Been looking into the older Batman I sets and minifigs. How do some sellers have dozens of copies of rare figures like pic related, which were only released in a single set 15+ years ago?
They also have multiple sticker sheets for these older sets, and I'm wondering if they're legit or very convincing copies? Not like you'd really be able to tell the difference, but I'm an autist for genuine parts, even stickers.

I think it definitely strayed too far into the MOC realm.

As you said, it's very smooth and flat, and the colour/texture is far too uniform.

I like it as an overall set, but i'll definitely be using some extra shades of grey to help break up the stone work.

Because they aren't rare, thousands of these sets got produced, its just that resellers sit on them and charge big money for them so there's less circulating. Its the same thing with retro games You'll always be able to find a copy of a Legend of zelda game, provided you're willing to spend the money for it. Price comes from demand, not the rarity.

I fucking love Creator sets almost entirely for the abundance of ball joints and hinges.

Those elements were such a rare commodity in my collection when I was a kid, the only ball joints were floppy trailer hitches and hinges were few and far between and had no resistance to them.

It made mech mocs a nightmare of over engineered technic hodge podges, but now I can literally buy a $10-$20 set and have all the core elements to make just about anything.

In theory absolutely, but i've got ball joints that are now 8~ years old, have been used and played with frequently by myself and my kids and are still absolutely fine.

But that's honestly the beauty of their inclusion in the Creator sets, when they do wear out they're readily and cheaply replaced.

Pic related, there's 10 ball joints and twice that in little misc hinge pieces just in the one set.

Creator is just the perfect blend of back to basics brick builds whilst also including really good specialty pieces.

No one who makes games professionally has time for that, if you want to storyboard in 3D, storyboard in 3D.

Use proxy elements and do a first pass blockout of whatever, it's a thousand times faster and you can focus on getting compositions right instead of getting bogged down in details. There's a reason as to why layout artists are a thing.

Lego is more for doing an one time build for specific locations or laying them out for a “real” type environment like the Fleicher Popeye vs Sinbad’s cave sequence using a real prop built miniature cave with animation synced over it, so building a Lego set of a specific room or even the house before putting some cardboard mini cutouts in there to get a general idea of the scale you want is likely a better use for the technique than regular constantly changing storyboard

So basically set them up better for once in a specific type shot more than anything, or for a film thing that plays with 3D backgrounds but fully 2D characters (but done well) vs anything like using actual mini figs or something, and again I am suggesting keeping it for more referance on where each character is at all times more than anything or posistion ing slightly, it’s a lot more of an out there way than just doing it regularly to say the least

At first glance the Super Robot seemed underwhelming to me, but I saw one on a shelf in a store and the colors looked a lot more appealing. So far Ive only built the robot form, the others dont really appeal to me, but the robot is much cooler than I first thought. Considering the $10 price, it is much larger than other cheap lego robots Ive seen, and way more poseable. It is very solid as well. The colors and design are very well done, very reminicent of japanese pre-gundam robots in my opinion. I also think its worth noting that the color scheme isn't overtly "good" or "evil" like you see sometimes. Great parts, cool figure. Unlike the Cyber Drone I dont think Id buy more than one or two of these, though. It doesnt really have the army-building aspect, and the colored pieces are a bit too narrow to be worth buying multiples of the set in my opinion. Thanks for visiting my blog .
