I barely remember Gladion in the SM games. The first trailer he was in had him listed as Team Skull's "Enforcer," but he just kind of showed up from time to time to battle the MC like any other rival. I'm sure he had a lot more relevance once the Aether Foundation plot started, but fuck me if I can remember anything besides Lusamine being the most hardcore evil group leader. Anime Gladion seems to be more unapologetically an edgelord, which I appreciate because it's funny. He's also a respectful rival without being a simp. There's a lot of potential here.
