>>41696765>Why bother with packet capturing for something that'll be dead before year's end, anyway?Only several weeks ago people found out how to break the game's packet encryption, and all the captured packets provide useful information for potential reverse-engineering efforts on making a private server. While finding and recruiting developers for such a project is still a concern post-mortem, at worst preservation efforts are still possible if most client-server interactions of the game are captured and archived.
So far I'm a little disappointed with a rather abysmal turnover in participation, like some are too busy circlejerking about 'what if' bullshit as if a pserver will actually happen than actually contributing pcap efforts, maybe there'll be a hurry up as we get further to the end but for now fleeting weekly event stuff is much more vital. But there are men driving efforts with going as far as writing software to help us get more key information, so I've still got some hope if Capcom shitcode works in our favor.
