The words just came out so naturally. It would be strange to call her anything else. You sit down across from her, where a plate of eggs, ham, toast, and a tall glass of milk await you. You suddenly realize how hungry you are and, with little ceremony, scarf everything down as mom smiles delightedly and remarks that she's happy you enjoy her cooking so much. As you wash the remainder of your breakfast down with milk - milk with a velvet smoothness, unbelievably rich and creamy, yet also very refreshing - mom then tells you that you look ready to meet the professor. She gets up and hands you a bag, a brand new pair of running shoes, and a nifty wrist watch that doubles as a phone. She takes your hands into hers, kneels down, and tells you how excited she is that you're starting your own adventure, and also how much she will miss you while you're gone. She gives you a hug and a kiss on your forehead and asks that you call her every once in awhile to check in, and that she'll be waiting for the day you return.
