I love them because I enjoy having alternate palettes for Pokemon. I think the whole "rare occurrence" shtick sucks though and I'd like it if not only were they made a lot more common (maybe 1 in 100) but Pokemon had more than one shiny possible (especially for those stuck with barely-changes shinies such as Garchomp).
