My biggest disappointment with my mega Venusaur was the fact there is no gender differences on male and female. I use a female Venusaur, so I'm used to it having that top on the palm. I think no mega have gender differences, so I guess that's just a shame in general about mega design.
What's mostly holding me back from using mega-Saur (and Battlepsot in general actually) is having a reliable way to beat Salamence. That thing gets me way too often, even when I try to overprepare for it.
