>>49948101She has a lot more going on as a character than most Pokemon characters , especially around her debut. She has a stressful life outside of her job ( balancing being a gym leader and a lead bass singer) with her father implied to be living off her as a result of his movie pursuits, and after this arc in the gym she can be seen challenging the player again, fighting Plasma, and even hanging out with Elesa. Dialogue also implies she also attacks people with her guitar so her punk aesthetic isn't just window dressing for her gym.
Considering how even nowadays gym leaders are reliant on fans reinterpreting the whole character to have layers to them, Roxie is definitely a cut above the usual stock in Pokemon.
If there was anything to critique, its that she really came just a bit too early before Pokemon blew up again, I could've seen her becoming popular to an annoying extent if she was in Gen 8. But for now she has her loyal fans and simps and gets more fanart than other
underrated characters like Shauntal so I think she left a good impression overall.
