Shitty roguelike gameplay with somewhat emotional stories that ended up being nostalgic enough for a cult following. They have a great comfy adventure atmosphere with some fantastic music. Emulate Explorers of Sky if you're interested.

100% Recruits in Rescue Team original is pretty bad. Maybe the worst as far as "get them all without some dumbass self restriction" goes.

>leveling up involves spamming the Dojo to slaughter Team Hydro over and over, and it can take 10+ runs for a single level for pseudos
>happiness based evos like Azurill or Igglybuff require grinding roughly 300IQ (the best gummis for the pokemon tend to not give more than 8)
>leaf stones are only in a level 1 dungeon in dungeon shops on random floors
