>>52340702Because Smogon monopolizes the 6v6 Singles and even 6v6 Doubles formats. Your options for playing PvP are VGC/BSS, Smogon, or AG (which is filled with nothing but either broken Pokemon spam or the gimmickiest youtube bait teams you have ever seen).
If you want to play a game with reasonable rules but don’t agree 100% with Smogon, you have to make your own format that no one will play since a huge factor of enjoyment of multiplayer is how many people play it. You’d need a format that’s so fucking good that people would drop a format with 100s of thousands of players to play your format with 5 people.
