Auctions Japan (though, obviously, proxy fees and shipping will kill you if you ever tried buying them individually like this, rather than looking for guys selling whole sets). If I were to guess, any shop owners who don't toss them in the trash after the series goes dormant just throw them up on YAJ the same way we use eBay; if they're solo DVDs, they'll probably rot up on there, but if they're full-year or full-series sets, they'll eventually sell. As for XY/XYZ and SM, those still hold value because they're more recent and popular, and don't even get me started on Journeys so far...those are practically going for scalper prices right out of the gate. However, because of the typical display of those rental DVDs, any after a few years will at minimum have fucked up spine discoloration. If you can find XY, BW, DP, and especially AG ones with mint spines, or, even better, any still in the original plastic wrap without the rental stickers, those are worth money.
