Ditto is still #8 in usage with 27% in high-rank AG, nearly two years after the games released. And that's in a meta where it has to compete with Ubers and its shitty HP becomes a lot more of a problem. For comparison it's not even top 20 in high rank gen 7 AG. And that's not because of Zacian either - Ditto has the same usage rate in Nat Dex AG despite Zacian being much less common there.

And how is that a nerf? What was she being nerfed by? Piplup is her strongest Pokémon, and her ace, why wouldn’t she use it in the finals, on a water battlefield?

Big enough that it made May lose? Why would she use the Pokémon with the least experience in the finals? Let’s just look at the rest of her team for a second. Blaziken could have won off of brute force alone. Venusaur has a massive type advantage and works on a water platform because it’s stationary. Wartortle would’ve been the perfect Pokémon to use objectively speaking. Beautifly just finished defeating Zoey, Dawn’s rival, in the previous round. Skitty is a powerhouse that OHKO an Exeggutor in the earlier round. Munchlax is Munchlax, but at least it could rely on Solarbeam and Metronome. This isn’t even the first time May has lost because she deliberately used a Pokémon she was debuting for the first time in the latter rounds. Honestly, I take back what I said. It’s not a nerf. May is just retarded when she places high in a Contest.

Before you say romcom moment has no place on kids anime, the anime already pulled a shoujo manga plot with May & Drew. Worst part is that they picked the worst shoujo manga trope for May. At least Romcom moment are possible even without pushing any romance.

NTA, how many of you retards actually watched AG? May’s Eevee only competed in two official contests before evolving, three before it evolved. The Wallace Cup was Piplup’s fifth fucking outing, not including any of the other little events it was in. Doesn’t matter if it “powered up” since evolving, 3 out 4 of its moves were different than when it was an Eevee. Even battle wise it paled in comparison to the Pokémon and trainers Piplup has battled by that point. You niggas have been arguing about May and Dawn for the past week, give it a rest, because it’s clear none of you even watch the show you’re arguing about

Lance never had a huge show of power to his name. His most notable feat is managing to equal out a Hyper Beam from base Kyogre, but wasn’t able to do more than that even with both of his ace Pokémon fighting it. By the time of JN, he was still an E4 member but managed to win the PWT in Driftveil City. However her biggest battle was against an incomplete Ash-Greninja, and was beaten so badly that Mega Gardevoir only had the strength to do one last attack to blast away Team Rocket before KOing from exhaustion. Her Mega Gardevoir is plenty strong, and has gotten stronger since it’s last appearance, but it says a lot when Alain’s Mega Charizard X defeated a completed Ash-Greninja.

Leon was groomed by the chairman of the Pokémon League and became the Galar Champion, undefeated, at the age of 10. Her strength is comparably to Leon, but she notably lost 2 Pokemon in her battle against Flint who is just an E4 while Diantha is a Champion.

Steven is the heir to Devon, so he likely has access to all types of training methods and strong Pokémon. Back in AG he was a trainer of myth, people knew he was incredibly strong but never saw him because he was always looking for stones. He managed to defeat the previous Hoenn Champion; Wallace, fight on equal terms with Primal Kyogre, took down the entire Team Flare HQ, and his Mega Metagross shrugged off a Blast Burn from Alain’s Mega Charizard X’s Blast Burn. His Mega Metagross has only ever fallen to Ash’s Pikachu’s unbeatable Z-Move, that even took down Tapu Koko’z own Z-Move.

Wallace was the champion and he didn’t even appear in his debut generation it was just DP and we never saw him again until JNs. Same thing with Lance becoming champion in JNs, we know he was an E4 member in Johto and AG and we never saw him again, also Kanto/Johto never had an established champion back in the original series so it’s fine. Iris’ case is different became she was a main character. I don’t know why this simple concept is hard for people to understand.

What I like to do is hop on unregistered alts and use my meta team to wipe the floor with sub-1200 Elo shitters. My favorite ones are the underage temp6t fans with six shitmons who get ass-shatteringly upset, call me a "legendary spammer", and lose 6-0. There's also the guys with just one or two Pokémon, who end up being completely defenseless against Perish Song + Whirlpool Arceus. There's a surprisingly high amount of people who just copy Leon and Ash's teams, and they're stupidly easy to deal with too.

Once in a while I'll actually get beaten, though, and I find that optimizations I make for low ladder play often work out well for the 1500-1600 Elo ladder too. I replaced Life Orb on Mega Rayquaza with HBD so it can stay in for longer, replaced a Kyogre on my team with a scarfed Ditto to deal with problematic mons I need to outspeed and oneshot, put Magic Coat on my Arceus to deal with Spore and Sticky Web leads, I use Sash Calyrex-Shadow and the aforementioned Ditto in conjunction with each other to deal with other sashed Calyrexes... so on and so forth. I also use it to experiment with new teams and adjust accordingly.

tl;dr i like stomping twelve-year olds on showdown

Ubers and VGC barely have enough breath to pull those other than Rocky Helmet, Ground moves and Teravolt/Turboblaze. Terastalize will be pretty much used in Gen9 and, unlike Z-Moves and Dynamaxing, Terastal lacks secondary effects (which also heavily affects the presence of Terrain compared to previous gen in VGC and AG).

Terastal for Shedinja is only one example of good defensive Terastalization that may even bring more usage on TTar or Hippowdon to keep it at bay. There's also Tera Water Rhyperior with Electric immunity via Lightning Rod... or even Tera Ghost Ursaluna with Bulletproof.

While i do agree XY Ash feels like a natural progression to his character. I still feel like it happened way too fast. DP Ash was no longer arrogant like in AG but he was still very much the same, goofy, kinda lazy and sometimes an ass. Sure he was more mature, experienced as a trainer, and an overall better person and mentor to Dawn but he still retained his basic characteristics. After the fuck up that was BW, Ash was all of a sudden a nearly perfect role model in XY, even his imperfections didn't stand out because the gang would still suck his dick no matter what. They turned him into this perfect HERO way too soon.
