TPCi’s dub didn’t have a single good opening theme song over 17 years, the closest it came to a good opening was Galactic Battles and they also gave us the worst dub openings, to boot in the DP Rap, Stand Tall, and the SM/JN AMVs.
It is well known the English Pokémon dub went downhill after late AG, some still pressed onward but by XY, almost everyone dropped the dub for good who has a brain desu. The dub change was a mistake, period, considering TPCi would commit all of 4Kids’ mistakes themselves in errors, dialogue changes etc and yet they overhauled more of the OST than 4Kids did from XY onward at any point— and also to boot, the dub VAs never quite matched their predecessors in quality despite having had over a decade to do so now and longer. The dub is on a peanut budget by now, you can feel the cheapness and laziness if you watch it these days (even dubbing over Pokemon like Bayleef whose Japanese voice was kept in English from 2002-2010 in JN now).
Part of me is praying TPCi finally fucking has to change with Riko etc, but I sincerely hope this refresh is when the dub joins the 21st century.
