>>58262564There were only three real places to end it: OS, DP, and XYZ. With OS, you reorganize the Johto League to get rid of Harrison and move Ash vs. Gary to the finals, Ash wins, then Ash vs. E4 and Lance, Ash wins, and heads home. This way, the "Original Series" just becomes known as the "Ash Series." Next series, you either make Brendan or May the new protagonist, or make them a traveling duo. With DP, you move Ash vs. Paul to the semis and have Ash beat Tobias afterward in the finals, or delete Tobias altogether and have Ash beat Paul in the finals. Then you do the Champion League, eventually culminating in Ash vs. Cynthia, with Ash winning. Since Ash's companion count is still reasonable as of DP, you can have Misty, May, and Max join Brock and Dawn in watching Ash achieve his championship victory. In the end, Ash goes home, and you could probably even end with the same final shot in the DP finale we got, with him running over the hill and into Pallet Town. Next series, a fairly faithful adaptation of BW, considering that it's already story-heavy. Finally, with XYZ, you all know the drill. Ash beats Alain, then you have the Flare arc, and then you have him battle and beat the E4, and finally Diantha. This ending, as is, doesn't actually work as well as the hypothetical DP ending IMO, so you'd probably need to sweeten it with an actual celebration episode (like we had after Ash's Indigo League placement), or something like that. In the end, Serena still gets her precious kissu and then fucks off to Hoenn, Clemont and Bonnie return to the gym, and Ash heads home. Like with DP's ending, I think you can actually keep the same final scene and shot from our XYZ, with Ash entering his house and calling for his mom. Next series, a total series reboot with SM, probably starring Chicken, complete with the same art style change, which now feels less controversial because it's a fresh start with a new protagonist.
Those are my two cents, mainly from my gut.
