>>58890493In spite of the limited Pokemon pool and the insanely jank actual gameplay, Gen 1 is in fact a very quick game to just pick up and play. On the other hand, DP is a slog AND in spite of supposedly more or less the same number of available Pokemon the ones available are even more dogshit, while BW has a similar sized pool of Pokemon and they're better AND the actual game design is even more smooth, but the cutscenes hinder the playability somewhat (it's not SM levels of bad but so few things are). On the other hand, in spite of the huge Pokemon pool XY is just boring to replay for several reasons, while SM/USUM would be great games to replay in spite of the slightly smaller Pokemon pool if it weren't for the fucking ass cutscenes. RS probably hits the best middle ground on everything, while also providing the length something like Gen 1 or BW don't provide. GS is less designed as a JRPG (because they designed that part way too fucking late) and more as a world to experience so unfortunately that's right out. SS is just a bad JRPG, while SV is also a bad JRPG but it isn't trying to be one in spite of the mechanics saying otherwise so again you've got to play it in a different way to have fun with it (nothing wrong with that, better than DP/XY/SS simply not being fun).
