>>58845541It felt too shallow. Most areas you only had reason to visit once and never again. In Emerald or Platinum, there was reason to go back to routes or towns with new tools to find things you couldn't have got the first time around. Sure there was the "mega stone hunt" but that was you just going to areas you already had access to for items that weren't there before. Also, let's be honest, locking away so many mages to the post game when the megas were the main gimmick was an awful idea. The best thing we got was Route 19, and even that was a far cry from Route 119 or 212.
On the topic of exploration, we didn't get a big area to wonder around in. I don't need a monster like Mt. Coronet to explore, but Terminus Cave just felt like an early game cave. And let's not even talk about Glittering Hallway.
The post game area was bland and just a battle tower. "but it added rota-" No one fucking cared about Rotation or Triple battles. Fuck man, BW invented them and it knew people didn't care. No one liked them and the Showdown matchmaking for them has always been dead for good reason.
The fact that the game had such a small dex that it needed to reuse the Kanto birds was embarrassing. It was even worse that you were limited to only one based on the starter choice. Yes, I know that that the dex is bigger if you count the megas, but that's even more reason for them not to have had so many locked to the post game. The event pokemon didn't evern have in game events. The most you got was one guy who said a few extra things if you showed him a Volcanion. In game events peaked with Liberty Garden, but even just something like the Darkrai quest from DPPT would have done so much to improve XY.
