>>53462617This sounds about right, based on the tone of the series outside of Ep 2.
The Pokeshippers who actually wanted it for resolution to setup back in the OS...honestly, you can imagine w/e the fuck you want in the future, and will be happier for it. The show doesn't have the latitude to give you what you want, even if they were inclined to do so.
As for the people who wanted Misty to "win" just to beat out the other shippers...lol.
I do gotta say that while I've enjoyed reading people's interpretations of the themes in MPM, if this is legit the plot for the final ep, it proves that there really were no throughlines in this little arc besides the facile attempt at one with Latias.
But in retrospect, that's something to be expected, given what this show evolved into. There could have been a way to perhaps wrap the thing up in a neat bow if they'd stopped the show with DP, but this thing has grown too unwieldy to actually address everything that's happened in 26 years of increasingly disconnected storylines. I think it wasn't unfair to expect that it might try to be a capstone on the OS, given the inclusion of Brock/Misty, but their presence ultimately was born purely out of a desire to tap into nostalgia.
