We know FOR SURE that they've teased it with full knowledge of what they are doing at least three times. The issue comes down to the fact that 2/3 of those teases are in one episode only, and the last one was just a background shout out, AND there was at least one major opportunity that went ignored in Episode 3.
In truth it's still "too early to call", but I am frustrated with that being my answer halfway through the series, so I locked in a guess based on available information at this time. Bayleaf will be another opportunity to see what the show is thinking for sure.
If in the event that there is no resolution (which I'm assuming to be the case), Pokeshippers can at least find comfort in the fact that they got some cute interactions, and the chance to hope one more time, which is nice for a 20+ year old ship.
