>>49945847I don't really mind Ash losing, but I agree that many of his league losses have felt artificial. It's hard to write a good loss for him that won't disappoint viewers, but Harrison and Alain are the best two for my money. Yes, Charizard shilling sucks and it really did feel like Ash should have won the Kalos league more than any other, but at least the battle itself was good entertainment. Harrison beating Ash with Blaziken was cool advertising for Gen 3, and I don't think many people thought Ash deserved to win a whole league at that point anyway, so it was fine.
Tyson could have been cool, but the battle was rushed. I like when Ash's opponents have a 'little buddy' on par with Pikachu to give him a good battle in his own weight class, and Tyson's Meowth fit the bill for that, but the rest of that battle was one-shots and bad animation. I'm hoping, if Ash loses in PM, that it's with a smile and some good storytelling.
