>>53368892It's more of a simple conclusion than a logical deduction.
It's a two fold issue though
Yuyama did NOT say that the woman wasn't an adult version of Misty, he said the little girl is not Misty, he misunderstood the question and started talking about the woman that cameos in pokemon movies
You'll notice that trend if you check the artticles on itt
For the little girl herself, people only assume she's Misty's daughter because typically if you show a main character in the future out of context with a kid, it must be their kid. It's not something peoeple pieced together, it's something assumed on sight basically.
For example think of the first time many people saw gohan with Goku. You assume Gohan is Goku's kid before you know it for a fact. It's a simple conclusion to reach. Most of the time an adult holding hands with a kid means its their kid specifically
TLDR it's visual queues not logic. Evidence points towards the little girl being a version of the young girl singing the actual song, the blue haired woman represents the adult in the song
To clear up the final controversy. The blue haired woman IS the adult singer, not the Misty lookalike. Not only does she resemble the singer, she's voice acted by the singer in the movie, and has no name in the japanese version. This is backed up by the fact that there is another character (Raymond) who is voice acted by a singer. They are playing themselves, they're in the same band.
Now the Misty lookalike has no actual explanation and as of yet has never actually been commented on, despite the yuyama interview
